Today I was pleased to see that the media deemed the withdrawal ceremony of British troops in Iraq to be more important than:
Swine flu
The recession
Gordon Brown’s latest pathetic GAFF
The soldiers return was the top news item (when I sat down at lunchtime today) altho its priority may well have changed by tea time, I mean after all - the ceremony had occurred a few hours ago by then… But at least the brave young men got the honour & recognition they deserve, perhaps the media is learning at last… The press hasn’t always focused enough attention on the good news about those who fight for our freedom, like that kind of news came second to other (even mundane) “news items…” So is their change of priority recently more about how support for the troops in general has increased by the people tenfold – thus leading to higher viewing figures, or is it rightly about true merit being more important than MP’s rejecting clocking on & off for their salary? Do I sound cynical about how highly or “lowly” this kind of see-saw reporting has occurred? Well, yes, but that’s not an issue, being positive about any situ the troops are involved in however is paramount…
