Nice one Mr Cameron…

Stating the facts that no one else dare stand up & say, even tho it’s what we all think, well done…

He even had to stand up & defend the truth…

And this is the reaction he got…

Tough titty, a corrupt regime who sit back & watch while our soldiers die fighting the taliban & do NOTHING. I have to ask myself how this would work if it was the other way round… And NO western leaders have condemned his statements, says a lot without the need for any words…

I’m so glad he didn’t back down over this…

In awe…

Last night I watched the documentary ‎on BBC2 at 9pm called "On the frontline" as I’m sure many military families did. It was humbling & emotional but it was nice to see news about an injured soldier's experience & recovery. It made me wonder if after all the tragic events when heroes return in coffins, the parades through the streets & the huge amount of respect shown are aired on TV & RIGHTLY SO… Do the injured get the support & recognition they deserve? Or are they the modest heroes, still here who just don't want a fuss? Thank you anyway for your bravery & courage, you are not forgotten about...

Here’s a link to the Newsnight summary of it later on, when it was discussed with some of the soldiers who’d taken part in the filming of the documentary…

Your phone is in your pocket…

Your phone is in your pocket.
He  clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags…

clip_image002

You talk trash about your 'buddies' that aren't with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again…

clip_image003

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists…

clip_image004

You complain about how hot it is.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow…

clip_image005

You go out to lunch, and complain because the  restaurant got your order wrong.
He doesn't get to eat today…

clip_image006

Your mother makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean…

clip_image007

You go to the shops and get your hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today…

clip_image008

You're angry because your day at work ran 5 minutes over.
He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months…

clip_image010

You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home…

clip_image011

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume…

clip_image012

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet…

clip_image013

You criticise your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting…

clip_image015

~~~
You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.
He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded…
clip_image016
~~~

You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the broken bodies lying around him…

clip_image017

~~~
You are asked to do some thing by your parents. You don't.
He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger…
clip_image018
~~~

You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat…

clip_image019

You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.
He tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long…

REMEMBER our Troops, and do not forget them LATER.
Lest we forget...

How corruption & publicity can cause great anxiety for military families…

This morning it was announced on the news that 3 British Troops had been shot dead & several injured by rogue Afghan soldier… President Kazzi Brown-Nose (as I refer to him) had announced a “full investigation” into the attack BEFORE the MOD had chance to inform relatives. For 3 stressful hours we waited to find out if our son was safe, the helpline number they gave for us to ring was jammed & it brought back anger that I thought had faded over the months of acceptance. So I sent this email to BBC News 24:

Title: “How & when to reveal information about fallen troops to the public…”

““While we as parents of a brave British soldier in Helmand Province appreciate the priority you give to reporting about our troops & promoting respect. On behalf of all military families may I please, please request that you do not release information about soldiers being killed before next of kin have been informed.
This morning it has been reported that "next of kin are still being informed." Do you realise how many thousands of military families are in distress till all the facts are revealed??
The number given for us to ring is jammed...
This kind of reporting is just plain cruel, again,may I please request that you do not reveal this kind of info till you can say "next of kin "HAVE BEEN INFORMED." I feel sick & my stomach is churning, this is BAD reporting. Thank you for listening.””

It was only later that I realised why this unusual method of reporting had to happen, President Kazzi (in all his wisdom) issued news of the attack on the AFP News agency BEFORE any details had been issued. Smart move that – it makes a good impression to the western world & allied forces like he cares or something, when really its all about saving his reputation… Therefore what else could British Broadcasting do when it had already been streamed across foreign TV & the internet…? They had no choice but to take on the story & try to gather facts rather than speculation…

So my point is, if we’re going to keep wiping this guys corrupt ass then he should play by OUR rules of how & when such announcements & details are released. Whatever the situation, he could have shown some respect & kept the public announcement of an investigation quiet till after next of kin had been informed… But why should he care when to him it’s all about how he is perceived…?

Hey I'm not religious, but this certainly makes ya think...

THE FINAL INSPECTION
The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

'Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you ?
Have you always turned the other cheek ?
To My Church have you been true?'

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
'No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

'Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well..
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell.'
